chosen by the breed founders', the Drs. Menzels

Welcome to Renegade Canaan Dogs of Rhode Island.

Our mission is to breed healthy Canaan Dogs with sound temperament and structure. We strive for correct breed type as outlined by the Drs. Menzel, our breed founders.

As one of the only Canaan Dog breeders in southern New England, we often welcome guests to meet our dogs and learn about this special breed.

We hope you enjoy the information and photos within the site. If you have any questions about Canaan Dogs, want to schedule a visit, or provide comments, please send us an e-mail.

Thanks again for visiting us at renegadecanaandogs.com!

About Canaan Dogs
The Canaan Dog is a recently domesticated breed derived from a specific type of pariah dog that inhabits remote locations of what is now the land of Israel. These tough desert born survivors are resilient, intelligent and independent dogs. This is not a man-made breed, but that of one evolved for thousands of years by the harsh environment of this region.

Diet & Health
Our Canaani are fed a varied diet of fresh raw foods (aka Biologically Appropriate Raw Food or BARF). In addition, their toxin exposure via vaccines and chemicals are kept to a minimum.
